I honestly believe that the most ridiculous rules of dating had to be made up entirely by men (I'm sure women have made up ridiculous rules too, but I'm biased.) Take for instance the 3 day rule. Men do this simply so that they don't come across as needy when really, at least to me, they come across as uninterested. I have decided to rename this rule (with the help of a friend) to "Standard Boy Time" since it is the standard amount of time a guy takes to contact you.The best part about coming up with your own dating terminology is that it helps you to lighten the mood when discussing your likes and dislikes with your potential date. I know most guys follow the 3 day rule, so to get my point across that I won't wait 3 days for a phone call, I always ask, "Do you believe in Standard Boy Time?" in a playful tone of voice. It catches them off guard, they'll laugh and say, "Um, I don't think so? Maybe? What is it?"
This accomplishes two things: 1. Let's them know I am well aware of this dating game and 2. That I can have a good sense of humor about it.
Once I started doing this, I have yet to encounter anyone applying the 3 day rule to me.
What do you think of the 3 day rule? Has it been done to you?

I really don't think guys think about that as much as women do. I only apply a couple day rule if I really have the hots for a girl but it is rare!
Well I am pretty sure the guy who made me wait 3 days didn't really have the hots for me. He was also web cam guy. So I equate 3 day rule with weirdos. ;)
